What is cat cystitis
Also known as feline urinary syndrome , it is an inflammation of the urinary tract very often due to:
- Kidney stones, which block the normal flow of urine.Â
- Physical trauma , such as a blow to the lower abdomen. Â
- Blockage of the urethra
- Viral or bacterial infections
- PoisoningsÂ
- Cancer , like bladder cancerÂ
- Diseases of the bloodÂ
- Diseases of the digestive systemÂ
- Somatization of stress and anxiety
Symptoms of cat cystitis
Cat cystitis involves the same symptoms that occur in the case of  cystitis for humans : burning, itching, pain, difficulty urinating or even excess urine.
In some cases, cystitis can be so painful that it causes the cat to scream when urinating, and blood may also be present.Â
In severe cases, blockage of the urethra and total inability to urinate may occur . In this case, the cat’s health conditions can easily worsen and it is best to contact your veterinarian immediately .
Cat cystitis: natural cures and remedies
A very effective natural remedy is the decoction of mallow flowers and leaves : put 2 tablespoons of mallow in a liter of water and boil for about 10 minutes. Leave to rest and filter. Add water to this concentrate and put in the bowl instead of drinking water.
Generally this herbal tea is well appreciated and has resolutive effects in inflammatory cystitis in females. This decoction should be given for several days , even after the symptoms have disappeared, to completely relieve the whole area. Alternatively, add a teaspoon of dried hop powder to your food.
Natural Tips
It is advisable to always keep the litter box clean , because cats rather than use it dirty, prefer to hold back their pee.Â
Do not keep food and litter close, and always make fresh, clean water available for the animal .
