Body fat can be dissolved with a cytokine

An experiment conducted on mice, but also replicable in humans, may lead us to a revolutionary discovery to melt body fat.

According to a group of researchers, thanks to a particular molecule it would be possible to lose fat by sweating.

Researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania have in fact identified in the TLSP, a well-known cytokine, a tool to melt body fat as if it were sweat.
With a single contraindication: treatment in humans could lead to oilier skin and in particular to greasier hair.

In fact, this cytokine would not act on the metabolism and therefore would not burn more calories: on the contrary, it would induce the body to get rid of excess lipids through the sebaceous glands.

Scientist  Taku Kambayashi, head of the study, explains that the action of the cytokine on body fat was an unexpected discovery. It is a process that works through the immune system, but not hormonally.

HOW IT WORKS THE CYTOKINE THAT IS ABLE TO DISSOLVE THE BODY FAT

In fact, as we know, cytokines are protein molecules that are produced by the cells of the immune system and have a signaling function. They are therefore often studied in relation to inflammatory processes.
Among the best known we have interferons, but there are various types of cytokines.

The cytokine that allows body fat to be dissolved as if it were sweat, allowing the sebaceous glands of the skin to expel it is a “lymphatic stromal lymphopoietin”, often linked to inflammatory phenomena of respiratory origin.

Researchers were initially studying this cytokine to reduce insulin resistance in diabetic mice.
However, they found that when injected into mice, the cytokine not only reduced hyperglycemia, but also allowed the mice to “sweat fat.” Compared to the control group, the mice treated with TLSP lost visceral fat, or white cell fat. What we commonly refer to as fat.

This was despite the fact that they ate 20 to 30% more than the mice in the control group.
The researchers found, by observing the animals’ skin, that it had become fatter.
Since the cytokine works the same way in humans, it is hoped that it can be used as a treatment to fight obesity.
