What is allergy

It is more and more common to come across allergic dogs and cats . Allergy, in predisposed subjects, develops following a contact of the immune system with a certain substance and the subsequent production of antibodies (sensitization) towards them.

So every time the organism “encounters” that substance, the antibodies are activated causing the specific allergic reaction with very annoying and often impressive symptoms.

Symptoms of dog and cat allergy

A dog or cat that has become allergic to something will nibble, scratch or lick persistently , have skin bumps or redness, have recurring ear infections , chronic diarrhea or gingivitis, breathe badly, or have excessive coughing.

Dog allergy: natural cures and remedies

To deal with the allergy in dogs, first of all it is good to eliminate the allergen that is causing the symptoms.

An effective natural remedy is given by the intake of vitamin E , essential omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids , and anti-inflammatory substances, all components present in black currant oil .

They are given from 0.5 to 1 g (in the form of pearls) per day for every 10 kg of weight, for a couple of months and then 2-3 times a week for long periods (up to 6 months).

Black currant oil is indicated in the presence of allergic dermatitis , seasonal or contact allergies, parasitic allergies, itching and licking, eczema, rhinitis, urticaria, pyodermatitis, conjunctivitis, etc.

Cat allergy: natural cures and remedies

Allergies in cats are common and there are many factors that can cause them. In cats, the most common allergy is that caused by  flea saliva . This is often aggravated by the cat itself which, scratching itself, injures itself and can develop skin infections.

The cat can also develop allergies to dust mites , insect bites or certain foods. The first cure for allergy in cats is to eliminate the cause of the allergy to (fleas, foods, etc.), then administer 20 drops of Ribes nigrum , glycerine macerate, at each water change, for long periods.

Natural Tips

We must not underestimate the wool or the carpet, the impurities of the water that the dog or cat drink, the fertilizers and pesticides of the lawn where they walk and that they ingest by licking the hair, the detergents, the herbs, the mold, the dust, mites and pollen.

To remove dust and allergenic substances, an excellent remedy are baths and washes with water and bicarbonate : 1 teaspoon in a liter of water.
