A nutritionist refuses to follow anyone who wants to lose weight
I’ll be back to talk to you about a nutritionist that in old Dcomedieta articles I have often cited for her unique approach of using nutrition to improve metabolism: Catherine Crow , who also has a very interesting blog entitled ” Butter nutrition ” (a pun between “Better Nutrition” and “Butter”), explains that to have an optimal weight you need to be healthy and ” nutritionally healthy “. And this is why Catherine has decided not to follow all those people who contact her for the sole purpose of losing weight anymore.
But how? Shouldn’t a nutritionist make people who are overweight and who turn to her to lose the extra pounds lose weight? According to Catherine, no, if the prerequisites are only those of wanting to lose weight.
This therefore means that she does not put the door on those who want to have a better diet. But that she refuses to follow those who just want to see the needle drop and that’s it.
The purpose of proper nutrition and a correct lifestyle is to put people in a better metabolic and health picture . Weight loss is a consequence of a better metabolism and a diet that reduces digestive, hormonal and major nutritional deficiencies. But it can’t be the first thing to look for.
Or:to lose weight well, you must first take care of your health.
How many people instead go on a diet for the sole purpose of losing weight? How many people risk their health for the sole purpose of losing weight? How many crash diets guarantee weight loss but also ruin the health of those who follow them? How many people join the gym for the sole purpose of losing weight? How many nutritionists and coaches tell us about their programs in terms of weight loss alone?
If you focus on improving your health instead, the weight loss will be spontaneous and the lost pounds will not return, because we will not have metabolic problems. You work out to stay healthy and in better physical shape: not just to lose weight. You eat in a healthier and more nutritious way, not for the purpose of losing weight, for that it is enough to count calories: but the calories of a strain of salad are not the same as those of an egg, so to speak. Each food has a unique nutritional profile. If we look only at the calories of foods, we devalue them from a nutritional point of view, which however is the most important one, since we eat to have energy, but also to nourish ourselves.
In short, not only do I not feel I blame you, but I believe it is right to educate people to consider not only the weight on the scales, but the general picture of their health. And if health falters, weight will always be an issue.
Think about it the next time you contact a weight loss professional.
