Niacinamide and nicotinamide
Hi, could I take Niacinamide 500mg for photoprotection from sunburn and sun damage? I was advised nicotinamide 4 * 250gr, which, it seems to me, is produced as a drug only by a pharmaceutical company, but, chemically they should be the same, right? I would like to be sure of this even if among the indications on your page, there are more or less indications that are comparable to those of niacin.

Hello Federico, nicotinamide or niacinamide are the same thing. Nicotinamide can be used for photoprotection. It is sold in tablets of 250 mg with the recommendation to take 3/4 tablets per day in the case of use for photoprotection. Requires a medical prescription to be dispensed. So I advise you to talk to your doctor and evaluate together the possibility of taking this vitamin. There is also Niacinamide produced by Nature’s plus in 500 mg tablets which does not require a prescription. The reason why the former, despite being at a lower dosage, requires a prescription and the latter does not, is unknown to me. Good day.
