OPPO RENO – REVIEW, A SMARTPHONE FOR EVERY EVENTUALITY

We present the Oppo Reno, undoubtedly an excellent phone that manages to combine quality and design in a single device.

In these days we have had the opportunity to try the long-awaited Oppo Reno , a latest generation but still mid-range smartphone. Our expectations were already good from the premises, but we did not expect to find ourselves in our hands a real gem both from a technical and a design point of view. For this reason today we are happy to write you this review, certain that although at a cost certainly not for everyone, you will have a mobile phone capable of satisfying any type of eventuality.

Packaging

The packaging of the smartphone is of the classic ones: rectangular and white, inside it contains a USB / USB-C cable, a 5V / 4A VOOC charger, a pair of headphones with wire and, finally, a rigid semi-transparent black cover. . The “package” is presented in an elegant way, already providing a sort of basic kit to make the most of the phone.

Design

With a thickness of 9 millimeters and a weight of 185 grams , the phone, in addition to being aesthetically very beautiful, is also practical and easy to handle . Both cameras have been coated so as not to ruin them if placed on or falls: this sort of protection does not in any way infer on the design, on the contrary, it gives a pinch of originality that demonstrates a strong attention to detail by the company.

Camera

Oppo Reno, as usual, is equipped with a dual camera. The main one is   48 megapixel ƒ / 1.7 which takes 12 megapixel images. Although the shot comes out very nice and clean, there are no options for taking wide-angle or zoom photos. Videos can be recorded up to 4K resolution (at 30fps). The front camera also manages to assert itself, thanks to its 16 megapixels ƒ / 2.0. The shots have good detail and the focus is good.

Display

Oppo Reno has at its disposal a 6.4-inch display in OLED technology and FullHD + resolution, with the classic 18: 9 format. The front camera is well hidden by a retractable mechanism, so as to avoid damaging it. The screen in general therefore turns out to be elegant and with personality, it compacts the colors and gives it the right tone. To conclude this part of the review, it is right to tell you that from the outset the mobile phone provides the buyer with a well-made protective film, so as to immediately protect the display.

Software

Oppo Reno equips the new ColorOS 6.0 . In general we can say with certainty that the software mounted by the smartphone holds up well the impact with many applications, not slowing down the fluidity of the actions. However, with some games the graphic quality sometimes dropped, not that this in any way undermined the general experience, but for the record it is right to report it. The system is therefore quick to respond to stimuli even under stress. The system is based on Android 9.0 , but we are confident that the Chinese company will continue to update everything step by step.

Autonomy

The smartphone is equipped with a battery of  3765 mAh . Although it may seem slightly below the standards for this type of phone, we have put a lot of pressure on its capabilities, and we can tell you with certainty that at least for this initial phase of its life cycle we have not found any problems, however it would be curious to see how if the hollow after more extensive use such as months or years.

In fact, you might think that there aren’t that many for a big and heavy smartphone like this one. Actually the choice was probably made because of the space occupied by the motorized camera, but don’t be scared. We have had exceptional results in terms of autonomy and we have practically never had any problems in this sense, always arriving at the end of the day with still “advanced” battery, even if never enough for a second day. Present VOOC fast charging, but not wireless charging.

Price

OPPO Reno has particularly surprised us and, despite a mid-range price, can offer excellent satisfactions like the tops. The general price is around € 499 . In our opinion, this is a price that is aligned and correct for the product, however if you believe that it is still too much we advise you to wait for some advantageous offer.
