Send secret messages with WhatsApp, complete guide
Are you afraid that someone will see your WhatsApp messages? Do you often leave your phone unattended and fear that someone might spy on the WhatsApp notifications that appear on your phone screen? Don’t worry, thanks to a new free application the problem is solved: now you can send secret messages on WhatsApp , and hide your conversations that contain private information.
All this is possible thanks to Kibo , a smartphone app designed to hide important messages from the sight of unwanted eyes. The application is nothing more than a keyboard that allows you to create real secret chats both on WhatsApp and on other messaging services (Facebook, iMessagge, Facebook Messenger, Skype, etc.). With a simple “trick”, this app hides messages by replacing them with preset phrases and prevents anyone else from knowing our business.
“Kibo solves the problem of protecting users’ privacy when exchanging messages containing secrets or private information” – explain the creators of the application – “People commonly believe that no one can intercept their private messages; however, their personal messages are often seen by friends, colleagues and passersby. Hence, we aim to provide a means of sending and receiving messages so that no one but the sender and recipient can see or read them. “
In practice – and here we find the real revolution of this app – Kibo is a keyboard that allows you to hide “real” messages behind “fake” messages (created on purpose) and to disguise the notifications that appear on the screen (even with the block active keys) in order to bring the security level of our WhatsApp data to a level never seen before. Obviously, we must not neglect the basic privacy settings on WhatsApp, but this new option undoubtedly brings a great contribution.
How to send secret messages on WhatsApp with Kibo
The first step is to download the application from the official store. At the moment the application is only available for iPhone and can be downloaded fromThis Pageof the Apple App Store, but the version for Android will also be released soon (you will find the link HERE as soon as it is made available for download).
After downloading the application we need to add the new Kibo keyboard to our phone:
- Go to Settings -> General -> Keyboards
- Click on Keyboards -> Add New Keyboard
- Select Kibo (which should appear at the top of third party keyboards)
- Select the Keyboard EN option
- Click on Keyboard EN – Kibo and select Allow access as …
At this point, opening WhatsApp the new keyboard will appear to send secret messages!
To start sending hidden messages:
- Open WhatsApp
- Type a message that you want to hide using the Kibo keyboard, and then on the Lock button next to the Spac button and (as indicated in the photo under point 1).
- After clicking on Lock , the sentence we entered is replaced with another sentence that will hide the message we are sending (you can change the text to your liking).
- After that you can send the message by tapping Send ‘. This message will be seen by everyone in the chat; however, only you and your contact will have access to the message hidden within.
To read the hidden message:
Click on a single message and copy it to the clipboard: double click on the message (or long press) and click Copy . If there is a hidden message inside, it will be shown in a pop-up view within the Kibo keyboard.
Now you can rest easy! Even if your smartphone falls into the wrong hands, all messages will remain hidden under seemingly “innocent” phrases.
In this way, not only in the chats the messages will be hidden, but also the notifications that will appear on your screen will show only the phrase “fake” that you have entered.
Some curiosities about sending secret messages
Remember that recipients must also have the Kibo application installed on their phone to be able to read hidden messages. If your interlocutor does not have Kibo installed, you can send the link to download the application directly from the app or from the Kibo keyboard.
The application currently allows you to send and receive hidden messages on WhatsApp with only one user at a time (the same limitation also exists with other messaging apps such as Skype, WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook Messenger, VK, Hangouts, wechat, Telegram, etc.)
