To quote a message, simply press and hold a message from any conversation on both iOS and Android . When you click on the message, the options bar appears where you can find the buttons to copy, delete or save a message as a favorite. Furthermore, now you will also find the new option which appears as a curved arrow to the left and which means “quote”.

By selecting this option you can add a comment to the message and see a small preview of the message, the same preview will be added to your conversation and sent to the other user, who can read it back to the original message with a simple click.

In summary, to quote a message on WhatsApp:

  • Open the chat where the message to quote is located.
  • Long click on the message.
  • Click on the “quote” arrow.

NB to use this function you must update WhatsApp to the latest version available.

Apparently this feature only works in the iOS and Android versions of WhatsApp, so the web version will have to wait as it only shows the added message and does not show the original messages that are quoted.
