If I want to lose weight, I will not do these eight things
Repeat with me, “If I want to lose weight, I won’t do these eight things”: dieting is already boring and puts a strain on our self-control, so much so that I don’t see myself waking up in the morning with a smile on my face at the thought of having to stay on a diet (wow, what good is waiting for me today? Ah, no, I’m on a diet) and for this reason I avoid it with all of myself, usually moderating myself at the table, doing physical activity and when I want to eat more (like double aperitif last Sunday) I force myself to stay in caloric reduction for the next two or three days.
But in addition, I am very careful to find the articles on the so-called diet errors, the ones that we all do in good faith, believing we are on the right track. Nothing more wrong instead. So here are the eight things we must not do if we want to lose weight according to the PopSugar website :
IF I WANT TO SLIMMER I WILL NOT DO THESE EIGHT THINGS
1) I will have the pantry and the fridge empty: a weekly (if we don’t want to waste time) or daily (if we like to cook) programming is the best way to avoid spending money on the takeway and find yourself to eat the first thing that happens. Carve out a few hours, do a big shopping and make sure you have a large fridge: then clean the vegetables, cut them into pieces (if they are green leafy or broccoli, blanch them, for vegetables there is no need, such as peppers, courgettes, and not even for pumpkin, onions, artichokes, asparagus), divide them into containers and go to the freezers. The same for legumes, for some doughs, and if there is something left over from a dish that is too abundant. It is the best way to eat varied and healthy.
2) I will hide from everyone that I am trying to diet : I really appreciate those who tell me to cook a dinner based on vegetables and salad rather than decline the invitation to dinner because they want to lose weight. Let’s do it too. Instead of the evening in the pizzeria we offer a place where different dishes are served, or a dinner at home or a light aperitif clearly saying that we are on a diet. If they love us they will respect us.
3) I will eat too much or too little protein: consider about one gram of protein for your weight, a little less is what is recommended. Don’t eat any more protein, protein can make you fat just like carbohydrates. And not even a few, otherwise you will slow down your metabolism.
4) I will avoid physical activity : you don’t necessarily have to join the gym, you can take a dance or martial arts course or plan walks or buy a tool. But do something!
5) I’ll skip dinner to drink more: drinking on an empty stomach is a mistake you can make at twenty. Pass the glass of wine, which you must still take on a full stomach, but drinking the cocktail is the best way to sabotage the diet and have a terrible hunger that we will stop with pretzels, pizzas, chips … Should I continue?
6) I will completely avoid the foods I love : the best diet is the one that includes the things we love, in less quantity. I’ll give you a tip on this: it’s the only thing you don’t have to keep in the pantry. If you fancy a dessert or a cup of chocolate, leave the house and go to the bar. Same for the burger or fries. Once a week but outside your home.
7) I will give up my day off: even if we feel strong and virtuous, a plate of pappardelle with wild boar sauce or a hot dog must never be missing, just have a day off the diet. Or rather, a free meal. It is a smooth but less stressful way to lose weight.
8) I will avoid the food diary : if you are good good you can write down the calories mentally, but who is good good? The food diary is a bomb-proof solution for losing weight. It is boring, but on the other hand it allows you to really lose weight. You have to write down how much you eat and how many calories.
