Baking soda for weight loss?
Among the various dietary trends, perhaps you will have missed that of the alkaline diet and in particular the use of sodium bicarbonate, which among other benefits would make you lose weight . Reading the story of people who have lost weight (yes, I do this too, I read and find out about how people lose weight) I have often come across people who said they lost too much weight by eating more vegetables and dieting bicarbonate base. There and then I thought they were referring to the alkaline diet , a diet that I have good-naturedly teased here , and which, although starting from laughable pseudologicals, promotes weight loss with a plant-based diet with less animal protein.
In short, the alkaline diet does not hurt, but the people who spoke of bicarbonate for weight loss were not referring in any way to the alkaline diet.
WHY WOULD SODIUM BICARBONATE LOSE WEIGHT?
1) Suppresses appetite, causing momentary bloating. Try drinking a pinch of a teaspoon diluted in a large glass of water. If you don’t throw up or burp, you usually feel swollen immediately. According to others, if we make cakes, biscuits or bread at home, it is always useful to add sodium bicarbonate to make them more digestible and less “fattening”. This may be true.
2) According to Dr. Hyman ( from the Hyman diet that I explained to you here ), sodium bicarbonate is useful as a bath “salt” because it helps the body get rid of impurities and counteracts water retention. A bath with half a cup of baking soda in the evening is prescribed in his Hyman diet. I have tried it, even in scrubs, and I must say that it is excellent advice.
3) Seconda DailyMail article published a few years ago , a pinch of sodium bicarbonate dissolved in a glass of water before a workout reduces the effects of lactic acid on the muscles and improves performance, promoting rapid muscle recovery.
4) There are those who mix a pinch of baking soda with a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar / or lemon juice and dilute everything in a large glass of water. Fans of the alkaline diet say that the compound, which is not drunk immediately because bicarbonate and vinegar foams but after half an hour, would make you lose weight . At the moment I have not found any studies that confirm this theory.
In conclusion? Take baking soda only to digest or bathe in it. It takes time to lose weight. And a diet.
