Tips for losing weight from an obese ex
Gaz, whose precise name is Gary Brennan , is a boy who once weighed 247 kilos , and now weighs less than a third of what he once was: he has lost weight thanks to the right diet and physical activity (not with surgery, therefore), and has decided to tell his story in this blog , in which he encourages people who suffered from obesity like him to lose weight in the right way. And what would he be? Let’s say that Gaz is a firm believer in physical activity and in particular has become a serious cyclist. In the blog he explains that from being a not very thin but fit boy who practiced sports and had an active life after all, Gaz let himself go, becoming an obese man at the age of thirty, suffering from type 2 diabetes and heart problems.
Having reached the beauty of 247 and over kilos, the doctor recommends bariatric surgery, which, however, due to his size and health problems is considered a risk. Gaz opts for surgery, and sets up an operation within six months. Operation he does not do. Shocked to be fat enough to need an operation, Gaz buys himself a (sturdy) bike, and starts pedaling in the hope of losing a little weight, also to make the future operation less risky. It was 2008 and a few months later he is told that he cannot have an operation. He would risk dying. In the meantime, however, Gaz has lost about fifteen kilos just pedaling and this has given him some hope. He continued pedaling.
And in four years he lost about 170 kilos. The story of him caused a sensation. Gaz a year later received a Manchester City Council “Be Proud” Awards for his dedication to the sport and his incredible achievements. Gaz is in fact one of the 5 percent of the population who have solved severe obesity with diet and sport, rather than with surgery.
The right way to lose weight?
Gaz defines it through tips to lose weight that I find very useful for those who want to gain weight and with an excuse or the other is putting off the problem. In short: who better than an obese ex is able to tell you how to lose weight?
TIPS FOR LOSS OF AN EX OBESE
1) Eat less and move more.Gaz says it’s taken for granted and people are tired of hearing it. But it is the only thing that is certain and that it works.
2) he Try to get an idea of how much you eat per meal: do not eat junk and fatty and high-calorie things. He tries to have healthy, low-calorie meals with lots of vegetables.
3) Don’t be afraid of the scales and the measuring tape: Gaz advises you to write down your weight every day and keep an eye on the cm with a tailor’s measuring tape, to see the results of our efforts.
4) Keep a food diary: oh, finally! Gaz (like me) also recommends keeping a food diary. A diary in which to write how much we eat, when, and also our weight every day, complete with a calorie count for everything we eat.
5) Set yourself achievable goals:it is useless to take it into your head to lose ten kilos immediately, but strive to lose half a kilo a week. This too is a much underestimated thing and much more useful than having a “vague idea” of how much to lose and how long it will take!
I know what you will say: these are trivial advice. But if done they all work great. The problem is that people play down and do nothing to lose weight, thinking it’s all empty words or useless things. Instead I assure you (as an obese ex) that it works. In short, it’s his word and mine.
