The raw milk diet
Once a year it turns out that someone has launched the milk diet challenge in America, proposing a crash diet based only on raw milk for a period ranging from a week to about twenty days. In spite of the fact that in Italy we do not have many distributors of raw milk and draft milk, and that in particular the areas of Southern Italy are almost without this possibility, raw milk, that is the milk that does not undergo any modification and that is produced by farms that certify its quality, for example small farms or agritourisms that have obtained organic certification,it is an excellent food for adult nutrition, in spite of what one might think of it. Raw milk in fact contains a high dose of proteins, vitamins and minerals, sugars and fats that make it a practically perfect food, a true nutritious food. If in everyday life we cannot exaggerate in the consumption of milk, we can safely drink a glass a day, especially if we can get raw milk. Find an Italian map of raw milk distributors here .
Why is raw milk so important? In addition to being a complete food, raw milk has enzymes that are destroyed in its industrialization (and are also destroyed in cooking) but which are very useful for our intestine, allow us to digest lactose and are very good for us. It is also a natural resource of butyric acid, another precious element for our intestinal health. Finally, it is a food useful for metabolism and very useful for reducing stress levels, balancing the cortisol response. That’s why you will find tons of research in favor of raw milk, while you will find countless of them who say that industrial and pasteurized milk is bad for you. It is an impoverished milk, which we cannot digest well and which comes from intensively farmed cows. The milk diet seems like a panacea if we have raw milk available: people who have done it report softer and brighter skin, less stress, rapid weight loss, faster digestion, the disappearance of various health problems. In the United States, raw milk from pasture cows, whole and certified, is undergoing a huge revaluation, and more and more people are drinking it instead of industrial milk. It is not clear why Italy does not take advantage of this trend:breeders should sell it every day in agreement with the administrations, so that it is available on tap in schools, squares and so on. Milk that is not consumed But let’s go back to raw milk and the milk diet as the one and only detox diet that increases metabolism rather than slowing it down.
With this diet, people lose 5 to 7 kilos in 15 days without regaining them. There are those who did it for two months with the aim of losing 30 kilos, like this blogger .
Are there any side effects? Yes, in particular in the first days people complain of constipation and digestive problems, but from the fourth day the situation is resolved and in general many people carry on the diet until the end, feeling very energetic, sleeping like stones, and losing weight.
However, raw milk is not free from pathogens that make it a risky food: to avoid any problem, it would be better to boil it, even if this is equivalent to the destruction of the above enzymes.
Unfortunately you cannot do this diet without raw milk, so I advise you not to imitate it if you do not have it available.
