Crash diets: the cold diet

cold-burn-fat-weight-loss-batIt is called a thermal diet or a cold diet , but it does not consist of spending a weekend at a spa or in the mountains. Rather, to expose yourself to the freezing cold to stimulate brown fat, increase metabolism and lose weight. And so, Good Morning America reporter  Becky Worley  decided to test the effects of this cold diet on her skin : walking in the snow in a t-shirt and running shorts, staying in a special cold air-conditioned cabin, dressing in an ice-filled jumpsuit. All this would considerably increase the metabolism, pushing the body to burn 300 or 500 calories by staying an hour or two in contact with extreme cold, precisely because in our body brown fat would be activated, that is the type of fat that raises the metabolism by thermogenesis, as a defense against drop our body temperature too much a. Only by keeping the suit filled with ice for an hour or an hour and a half a day is it possible to lose over half a kilo a week without gymnastics and without diet. I’ll tell you the truth, the method can also work, but it seems to me a total idiocy: one thing is to pass an ice cube on your stomach to feel the chill of cold (a method to lose weight I talked about here), another is to undergo such torture, forgetting that brown fat raises the metabolism, yes, but it pushes the body to feel much hungrier, especially sugar hunger.
With the consequence that after an hour or two of exposure to the cold we end up eating much more precisely because of the sudden metabolic stress : if this were not the case, winter would not be the fattening lethargic trap we all know, but it would make us lose weight. two kilos a month and six in the winter season alone. Instead we gain weight precisely because in the cold we tend to eat more.
