Diet in menopause: lose weight with hormones
Today we see the advice of Dr. Caroline Apovian to lose weight in menopause, indications that are valid and should be known in general to keep our weight under control, both if we are women and if we are men.
But let’s start from the beginning : Dr. Apovian is the author of a book, for now only in English, entitled ” The Age Defying Diet “.
In this book, not only the menopause topic is addressed, but the tendency that we all have to gain weight as we age, for which the metabolism of a twenty year old will not be like that of a thirty year old and so on.
DIET IN MENOPAUSE AND METABOLIC CHANGE
Over time, in fact, we know that our metabolism slows down and our lean mass goes a bit to be blessed.
Clearly we could do something to slow down this process. But we cannot be able to completely reverse the course.
At fifty, we can’t hope to have the same metabolism as when we were teenagers.
But without a doubt we can limit excess weight with a healthy and varied diet and with physical activity that contrasts the progressive loss of lean mass. But if it were just a matter of eating better and moving more, then it would be easy.
In fact, they have a BIG say in our life, and also in our diet, the HORMONES.
Depending on what happens to us at the hormonal level we can, for example.
- Having health problems
- Suffering from insomnia
- Put on weight
- Losing muscle.
- Having mood problems
- Suffering from digestive problems
- Having too much or too little appetite
- Don’t feel sexual desire.
- Too much or too little hunger
- Looking even less attractive, from skin to hair to nails.
