Dangerous statins, better to change your life
Statins dangerous to health? This is what some doctors claim.
They explain that the Mediterranean diet, a healthier and more active lifestyle would seem to have an efficacy similar to the action of statins on cholesterol control. But undoubtedly in a safer way.
This is because taking statins to lower cholesterol still leads to side effects on the health of patients with hypercholesterolemia.
Among the effects of statins we remember: tiredness, muscle pain, fibromyalgia, dizziness, risks for the pancreas, for the liver and suspicion of cancer risks (this according to the studies carried out on mice). Many of these side effects are recognized, others unlikely, but people could save them by adjusting their diet and lifestyle.
This was stated by three doctors, including an eminent British cardiologist, Dr. Aseem Malhotra, who published an article in Prescriber asking the medical profession not to insist on statin-based treatment to reduce cholesterol. He, but rather to push the patient to improve living conditions.
How?
With a moderately Mediterranean diet , which includes the consumption of fruit and vegetables, the consumption of whole grains and legumes, extra virgin olive oil, white meats, fish and dairy products, and only the occasional consumption of red meats and sausages, moderation in proteins in favor of more natural carbohydrates, reduction of industrial foods.
To this patients should add a healthier lifestyle : no smoking, active life, daily movement, stress reduction.
