Soy Protein Against Osteoporosis?
Taking supplements based on soy proteins and isoflavones would help delay the problem of osteoporosis and bone density loss in menopausal women. This is what research conducted by Dr.  Thozhukat Sathyapalan  of the British  University of Hull has established . According to the research, women who, starting from the first symptoms of menopause, took supplements based on soy proteins and isoflavones (in the 66 mg dose) had a lower percentage of a marker linked to bone loss in their blood than those treated with soy protein alone. The sample taking isoflavone-enriched soy protein supplements also had a reduced cardiovascular risk. According to the doctor, the action of soy would be similar to that of drugs against osteoporosis . The same dr. Thozhukat Sathyapalan has edited various studies on the integration of soy protein enriched with isoflavones in diabetic patients, in patients with thyroid problems and in those with hormonal dysfunction.
In fact, there is no reference to how to obtain the same benefits as the women represented in the study with a diet based on soy foods, nor general recommendations. Furthermore, a study that was conducted for two years on a similar sample of women, reported in Italy on the website of the Veronesi Foundation, denied the hypothesis that isoflavones could reduce the risk of osteoporosis in women, but importance of soy-based foods to be consumed after the age of 40, as oriental women have minimal levels of osteoporosis and traditional soy-based diets are thought to have something to do with it .
