Losing weight is harder for women, here’s why
That women were less inclined to lose weight and more inclined to gain weight , however, during their various ages of sexual development, we had already noticed: in a couple who is on a diet, the woman tends to lose weight less than the partner man and more slowly; in the gym, women get lower weight loss results than men,  and if the personal trainer is not experienced enough to differentiate the workout for female clients, the result for the latter can be demotivating . The reasons for this disparity are not entirely unknown: women have a physiologically slower metabolism than men, and a hormonal profile that does not allow them to respond adequately to training and dispose of fat, just think of estrogen.
But a new study adds another reason for disparity. According to the  Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health , it is difficult for women to lose weight due to brain , as well as hormonal, differences. Yes, you got it right. We women care about our brains. Hormones that regulate appetite and hunger, but also the regulation of energy expenditure, would work differently in women. This substantial difference would occur in a particular region of the brain, in which the  proopiomelanocortinsthey would not perform the same functions for both sexes: in men, these prohormones would activate in the pituitary the hormones responsible for regulating appetite, regulating physical and thermogenetic activity, regulating body weight; in women, they would only regulate appetite hormones, while other activities would be regulated to a much lesser extent.
The result? Difficulty burning calories from exercise, difficulty regulating weight, tendency to gain weight. That’s why losing weight for women is hard, and putting on pounds is easier.
The hope is to be able to develop new generation drugs that induce  proopiomelanocortins female a further regulation of thermogenesis and body weight, in order to obtain the same “performance” of the male brain.
