Balanced nutrition: what are the carbohydrates

But are legumes proteins or carbohydrates? And is ice cream the same as yogurt? But is sugar also a carbohydrate? And how should I consider the avocado? Here, during the day I receive many messages of this type. Which forces me to take a step back, and to consider that many people confuse carbohydrates, proteins and fats, do not know how many to eat, think only of calories (we have learned those, ok) and above all they confuse the foods that contain them.
But if calories matter, who cares about macronutrients? Well no. It’s not just calories that count. If we eat few carbohydrates we will get a reaction (not always weight loss), if we eat few proteins we will get another one. In this article I will try to be brief and see the basic rules for a balanced diet.

BALANCED POWER SUPPLY
Here’s what to know. Let’s start with carbohydrates, and in subsequent articles we will also see fats and proteins.

There are three macronutrients , but also four (yes, I know, we have a bad start): carbohydrates, proteins, fats and fibers. Fiber is not always considered a macronutrient, but it does not actually count as carbohydrates because it is not assimilated, and it is necessary in our diet. Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals. Macros bring us nourishment and energy, therefore also calories. The micro are nutritional principles, essential for living but which do not bring us energy.
Let’s now look at the macronutrients starting with carbohydrates.
What are carbohydrates?
CARBOHYDRATES

carbohydrates and sugars ARE THE SAME THING. They are homonyms. They are carbohydrates. You will commonly hear that carbohydrates are bread, pasta or pizza, sugars, honey, table sugar and sweets in general. No, that’s nonsense. They are all carbohydrates. All sugars. All carbohydrates. They simply have a different chemical composition (complexes are polysaccharides, simple mono and disaccharides) so we distinguish them into complex and simple. Complex carbohydrates in general release energy more slowly than simple ones.
