How to prepare detox water at home?
It is very simple, and it is also a fantastic idea to propose to those who come to visit us, for a summer break that is not the usual alcoholic aperitif, but which includes fresh and healthy alternatives.
It was on vacation that I tasted my first detox water, in a bar that offered them as a house specialty.
Not only was it thirst-quenching, but I also remember the impression of a flat stomach that it gave me immediately afterwards.
The reason is simple: many of the trace elements of the detox water ingredients are dispersed in the same water, mineralizing it as well as flavoring it.
How to choose the ingredients for our detox water ?
First of all, the water based on our drink can be just water or we can flavor an herbal tea and serve it cold by adding these ingredients that you will read later.
A base for these detox waters can also be white or green tea or karkadè, hibiscus flower tea with slimming properties.
So the first thing is to have a jug and fill it for about three quarters of water, white or green tea or karkadè, or even a decoction or herbal tea of our choice.
Detox water based on white tea, green tea, hibiscus tea or with herbal teas.
In this case we can create detox waters by inserting a mix of these ingredients in the jug.
- Grapefruit, lemon or lemon, orange: they must be inserted into wedges or large slices, with the peel, so let’s choose organic.
- Fresh mint or basil: two purely summer herbs that I recommend not only for their properties but also because they are deliciously flavored with tea, especially mint.
- Chopped ginger (fresh root), cardamom, cinnamon sticks, cloves: they must be added when the decoction or tea is still hot, and therefore as the first ingredient in our jug. The slats must be broken. We can try one to two of these spices.Once the jug is full of our ingredients and liquid, put it in the fridge: let the ingredients macerate a little in the water while cooling. At that point we can serve it in jars with some ice cubes or in a normal glass, filtering it or not.
Detox water based on water only.
We fill our jug about three quarters with water and customize it according to what we want to get from our drink.
- For a deflating and draining effect:
sliced fennel, sliced cucumber, lemon, lime or grapefruit sliced, mint. - Fat burning and anti-cholesterol effect:
sliced celery, bergamot or lemon or orange, ginger root, mint. - For an anti-cellulite and anti-glycemic effect:
cinnamon sticks, cloves, blueberries or fresh red currants, sliced celery, sliced fennel, orange wedges, parsley mixed with mint. - For an anti-hunger effect: sliced pink or yellow pulp, mint leaves, a spoonful of chia seeds, a split vanilla bean.
Of course, you don’t have to add all of these ingredients, but you can create your own combinations!
Another idea is to make personalized detox waters in smaller jugs, half-liter plastic bottles, jars or mouthpieces.
