The supplement for weight loss? It was vinegar
Whenever I tell you to be wary of online sales of supplements for weight loss, I do it even in the face of frauds like this: yet another fool is a weight loss supplement, which according to the manufacturers, two English sisters named H elen Buchan and Carol Wiseman , it was miraculous: it dissolved excess fat, killed cancer cells, reduced arthritis symptoms and reduced cholesterol.
But laboratory tests confirmed that the famous Secret Drops , which sold for over ten euros, did nothing in terms of weight loss.
Worse still, another product the company sold was just plain apple cider vinegar , which the ladies sold online for eight euros a bottle. To get the two supplements and a pre-printed weight loss plan, people spent around forty euros. The result? With the sale of the two fake supplements and the slimming diet, the two women would have earned, according to the investigators, the beauty of two million pounds, almost two million and four hundred thousand euros, just for the sale of the product in England in the years 2013-2015, a product which, however, was also available in the United States and whose sale began in 2011. In short, what is earned in England is the minimum.
Denounced, the sisters would have continued to sell their products online, and in the end they would have been fined around ten thousand euros in England (in the United States there is talk of a fine of millions), while only recently there has been the confiscation of the products and the closure of the company by the financial police.
This is not an isolated case: especially in the summer it is full of advertisements for weight loss supplements that are totally ineffective, a real waste of money. People get duped by facebook comments and online reviews, both piloted.
