Walking makes you lose weight, but how? Pat’s case
Pasquale Brocco, aka Pat, is a new man: he weighed about 275 kilos at the age of 31, but he lost the first 90 kilos while walking. It’s living proof that walking makes you lose weight, if you know how to do it. In his case, one day Pat decided to walk a mile to get to his favorite grocery store , instead of being driven. That is one kilometer and six hundred meters. After that, loaded with shopping, he went home, so we can say that he started walking about three kilometers three times a week.
In two years he lost 90 pounds. Once he got used to this path, he joined the gym : he started walking on the treadmill and lifting weights, until he became the lean, strong and muscular man he is today. ( Before the usual attack me saying that this story is made up, here’s the source of the news , with photos of Pat: even if you don’t know English, you will notice his weight loss from the photos. They interviewed the same guy on TV too, for example at Fox. In the photos you will also notice the sagging skin that Pat is holding in his hands, a sign that yes, he really lost weight without surgery. If you think that the journalists have created a fake story, perhaps by downloading the photo from the internet, well, click here to find the profilefb by Pasquale Brocco ).
You may ask yourself: but then if walking makes you lose weight, why don’t I lose weight?
Well, walking makes you lose weight for some reasons, it doesn’t make you lose weight for others. Walking briskly (very fast) allows us to burn no less than 250-300 calories per hour. If we eat a balanced diet without overdoing it and walk an hour and a half every day, it is a calorie deficit that can cause us to lose about a kilo a month, on average. In addition, walking for many works as a natural stress reliever, and tends to deflate us. If, on the other hand, even unknowingly we eat more, the caloric deficit achieved by walking cannot work miracles. It has been found that people with severe obesity problems lose weight more easily while walking than those of normal weight or those who are slightly overweight.
