Addiction to chocolate: why it occurs and how to reduce it

Many people, especially women, complain of having a chocolate addiction, so they can give up eating the plate of pasta or skip a second, but the chocolate is not touched. These people often eat chocolate, but most of all they want it. They may be able to control how much chocolate they eat, but constant craving makes them irritable and anxious, as well as being a significant source of stress. If you are among them, now I will try to explain to you the reasons why you have a chocolate addiction and how you can fight it.

CHOCOLATE ADDICTION: is it an eating disorder?
Is chocolate addiction a disorder? Do people who eat chocolate every day have an eating behavior problem? The answer is nì. Since the 1990s, a number of studies have tried to identify the type of individual who suffered from chocolate addiction, finding that in most cases he has an addiction but not an eating disorder. Other times, the addiction to chocolate is part of a compulsive hunger talk.
So why are you addicted to chocolate? The reasons are many, I will summarize them:
1) cocoa acts as a psychotropic substance , that is, it acts on some psychic functions.People who are more addicted to chocolate are often depressed, and have problems with serotonin but also dopamine receptors. Eating chocolate reduces anxiety in these individuals, and provides them with more mental clarity thanks to an alkaloid known as theobromine .

2)  other substances contained in chocolate, such as zinc and magnesium , could play a role in creating addiction to chocolate in those who are deficient. For example , women with PMS typically feel more craving for chocolate.
3) Thirdly, what researchers call a hedonic need occurs , a pursuit of pleasure that is tied to somecharacteristics of chocolate , such as fragrance, flavor, texture. By experiencing these characteristics, you are satisfied.
However, there is another very very important parameter, which is what we have to pay attention to when we eat too much chocolate. It’s about sugar, and sweets in general. In fact, if we are only addicted to chocolate, we should be able to automatically or almost automatically prefer extra dark chocolate (even very bitter) and simple cocoa, even bitter.
