The benefits of dark chocolate

What are the benefits of dark chocolate?  In fact, we all know that dark chocolate is a healthy food, as long as you do not exceed its consumption: in fact, it is rich in antioxidants, but also energy, that is a food with a good calorie density because it is rich in fats but also in carbohydrates.

To reduce the carbohydrates of dark chocolate, we can obviously choose qualities with little added sugar: for example, Lindt’s 99% cocoa chocolate has only 8 grams of carbohydrates. But it is very bitter. Already the 85% cocoa one has more than double, while a normal dark chocolate bar reaches even 30/40 grams of carbohydrates. The more carbohydrates chocolate has, the less fat it typically has.
Something that many underestimate.

Let’s now see the benefits of dark chocolate: as we know, it is rich in particular antioxidants called flavonoids, useful for cardiovascular health and reducing stress and free radical damage; few people know that theobromine , an alkaloid contained in chocolate and cola, promotes weight loss, reduces swelling and has a diuretic and vasodilatory action; however theobromine is an exciting substance, so it is good not to overdo the consumption of dark chocolate, preferring normally two portions (equal to 10-15 grams per portion) per day. It also contains anandamide , a substance that acts on the central nervous system as a stimulant, improving memory and concentration, acting as an anti-stress and facilitating thermogenesis.

However, these substances, however beneficial and in a certain sense also “fat burners”, are exciting, so it is better to consume dark chocolate during the day, avoiding it in the evening. In fact, dark chocolate, like coffee, is a nerve food. So it’s good to eat it often but don’t overdo it.
If we suffer from high blood sugar, it is best to consume the sugar-free or bitter qualities at least 85% cocoa. In this way we will have the benefits of dark chocolate without the excess of sugars.
