Healthy food and weight gain
There has been a lot of talk lately about superfoods, functional foods, healthy foods and functional nutrition.
In essence, the new trend is to declare that calories don’t matter, but the nutritional value of foods does matter.
A fair reasoning, but only in part, especially if we look at what these healthy foods , superfoods or so-called functional foods are.
Oily seeds and dried fruit in quantity, very protein and fiber-rich foods, but reading the labels then you will also find a little fat and some more sugar.
Vegetable butters, vegetable creams, vegan cheeses which however are low in protein and rich in fats or starches.
In a word, just as there is junk food that we must beware of, there is another insidious thing , called healthy junk food. High calorie but healthy food.
Food rich in nutrients, but also high in calories because it is rich in something else. And here, instead of losing weight and having a better diet, this new health trend risks making us fat.
I’ll explain it to you with two examples that will open your eyes to healthy foods and their business.
