Fats in the diet: increase food addiction

It’s true, this study was conducted on mice : but mice have an even better metabolism than humans due to their concentration of brown adipose tissue (the “slimming” fat that allows you to burn more calories), so maybe this time he can speculate that for men the results would be even worse. But let’s get to the facts: you know how many times we are told that fats do not make us fat and that the culprit of our overweight is the bad and ugly carbohydrate? Here, a study on types shows the exact opposite. A group of mice was divided into various subgroups: for the same amount of food available in the cage, they all ingested carbohydrates, fats and proteins in different proportions.Well, the mice that could eat more fat tended to consume more food , and to show higher rewards from food gratification.
The result is that they have put on a lot more weight than other mice. According to the researchers, fats increase food addiction contrary to what one commonly thinks, which is that sugars do so.

So how do you explain if this was the case with addiction to sweet food?
Most of the sweets on the market have both fat and sugar. If you think you are addicted to sweet food, try eating meringues, which are sugars and egg whites. Difficult to go beyond the fifth or sixth meringue. Try eating cookies instead. Or nutella. At what number of teaspoons can you stop? How many cookies? In this case the culprit is not so much the sugar, but the combination of sugar with fat (and salt). Think of a cup of solids (high in sugar and low in fat), and a cup of tiramisu (fats and sugars): which would you eat more willingly? And between 4 tablespoons of sugar and two small cannoli? Which ones do you like the most?

The fattest, even sweet, food is more caloric than just sugary , since one gram of fat provides 9 calories compared to one gram of carbohydrates which provides 4. And according to researchers, it makes hunger easier. In short, if there really was a sugar addiction, then we should be craving white sugar. Not Nutella.
