Dave Asprey’s mea culpa: don’t give up on carbohydrates

Dave Asprey, the famous millionaire inventor of the Bulletproof Diet to lose weight and increase his intelligence, backtracks after being a supporter of the ketogenic diet for years.

In a recent interview that went around the world, Asprey introduces two new key concepts for achieving eternal health and good body weight.

    • The first is not to give up on carbohydrates.
    • The second is that you can eat certain foods while fasting and get the same benefits as the intermittent or intermittent fasting diet.
Let’s see in detail what has changed in the inventor of the Bulletproof Diet.

DAVE ASPREY MARKS BACK ON CARBOHYDRATES

Although his Bulletproof Diet is a paleo-style ketogenic diet that includes very few carbohydrates, zero legumes, zero cheeses and dairy products, Asprey revealed in an interview that low carb is likely to overdo it.
Demonizing carbohydrates makes no sense, according to him. Indeed, it is harmful to health.
He calls this demonization “the ketogenic trap” and says that following a carbohydrate-free diet for life is just as damaging to the body as overdoing carbohydrates.
He admits that he had some responsibility (ah, yes? Come on …) in this fanaticism.

Those on a ketogenic diet, he explains, often eat unnatural, industrial food and gorge on unhealthy fats.

HEALTHY CARBOHYDRATES TO AVOID KETO FANATISM

At the same time, many foods that contain carbohydrates are extremely healthy foods: Asprey gives the example of fruit, whole grains and tubers. After losing 25 pounds in 3 months and being a ketogenic diet fanatic for years, Asprey reveals that he also consumes foods rich in carbohydrates.
When, how?
This doesn’t exactly explain it.

He says that carbohydrates must be present at least once a day, for example combined with a meal, such as a portion of fruit, white rice or a baked potato.

Alternatively, he explains, you can choose one day a week in which to eat carbohydrates freely, as long as you avoid foods rich in simple sugars and focus on rice, tubers, legumes or fruit.

INTERMITTENT FASTING? IT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT FASTING

Fasting without fasting completely or without doing the intermittent fasting diet. This is the other controversial idea of the new Asprey. Who explains that thanks to his famous Bulletproof coffee you can do intermittent fasting by skipping breakfast, or by drinking only coffee ( you can find the recipe here under breakfast ).

Lunch and dinner will therefore be regular.
However, it is also possible to have a regular breakfast once a week.
This way you avoid becoming a ketogenic diet fanatic.
Fanaticism, Asprey says, is bad for your health
