Let’s find out all the features of the Asus TUF Gaming H3 budget headphones. Will they be a pleasant discovery?

Asus is a company that has decided to focus strongly on gaming devices, most of the time it packs small jewels of the highest value and price, but the TUF Gaming H3 are aimed at a cheaper market. The choice to produce a material at an entry-level price is never simple and obvious, this slice of the market is complicated and full of products. Let’s find out if the Taipei company has hit the mark yet again.

If we think of the flashy lines offered by all the products developed specifically for gamers then we could guess that the TUF Gaming H3 are very normal headphones. The box for this product is black with the headphones retracted on the front of it and the technical specifications on the back. If we want to buy high-quality headphones at a low cost, the company at least had to save on the content.

Inside we find the headphones with small jack adapters, the instruction booklet and the classic guarantee booklet. In short, there is everything you need to be able to attach them to our device and test them.

The TUF Gaming H3  certainly cannot compete in design and materials with the more expensive H7 . There are many differences between the two models, H7 focuses on a more modern look with oversized earpads to offer very high comfort (if not the best), while H3 has a much more basic look.

The materials chosen by Asus in packaging this product are obviously of modest quality. Not only to the sight but also to the touch we realize the economic choices that have had to be taken. The headband is protected by an imitation leather band that did not give us such positive feedback, it does not seem padded to the point of allowing us exaggeratedly long gaming experiences. The aluminum headband keeps everything together, while the brushed aluminum hinges connect the band to the earpads, which can be easily adjusted.TUF Gaming H3

The elongated shape of the earpads makes the headphones comfortable to the touch, even the finishing of the leatherette pads gives us the same sensations as the protective band: little resistance. Above the headphones we find a simple button to disable the microphone and the classic volume wheel. This is comfortable to use while the microphone button seemed a little too “light” to us, and even the simple rubber cable is back to normal.

Despite this, once worn, the headphones are very comfortable. The weight has been calibrated very well by Asus, because the 294g is balanced very well by the headband cover. We did not feel too much force on the ear from the pavilions, the adherence is perfect to our head and we just can’t complain about this. The discussion on transport is different. The headphones cannot be folded inside, making them a little uncomfortable while on the move. Last positive note is the complete isolation they offer, these headphones are perfect if you need something that isolates you from the outside world, letting you immerse yourself in the game.

After talking to you about the external performance of the TUF Gaming H3  it is time to move on to the juiciest part of the review: the performance. With Asus’ Essus 50mm drivers , the TUF Gaming H3s deliver respectable audio, perhaps even a little more than what’s on the market today at this price point.

The sound these headphones return is truly delicious. The EQ is able to enhance the bass and optimize the high frequencies, without however going to annoy the clarity of the overall sound. Over the course of gaming sessions, you get incredible audio response, while perhaps it loses something when we switch to listening to music or movies.

The completeness of the sound reproduced by these headphones probably comes from the fact that they are perfectly insulating. There isn’t a note that comes out of this device, so everything is perfectly reproduced for total immersion. The classic use of the 3.5 mm jack denies the customization of profiles or setups, but on the other hand it is already handled so well that we would not even know what to change. Then the choice of this connector makes the headphones usable on practically all your devices: PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, Tablet etc.TUF Gaming H3

Among the best features of this product we find the microphone (perhaps there are not such high-performance ones in circulation at this price). Unfortunately its fixed design is not the best, but rest assured that you will forgive it once you try it. With the quick mute button on the side of the left ear, this unidirectional boom microphone does the job for which it was created flawlessly and with great clarity, so that your teammates will always hear you perfectly. The microphone is an aspect that should not be underestimated if you play online with your friends: not only the sound, but also the communication must always be perfect, for optimal performance.

Technical specifications

In this short paragraph we want to list the specifications of the TUF Gaming H3:

It is always easy to talk about expensive and very high quality peripherals, everything becomes beautiful and easily described, this is not the case when it comes to cheap products. Fortunately , Asus came up against us by producing the TUF Gaming H3  of the truly flawless entry-level headphones (at least from the audio point of view).

This product is intended for all users who are looking for a cheap and unpretentious headset. Sound and comfort are not comparable to many models in circulation, the quality of these two features is fundamental in this slice of the market. We could tell you negatively about the chosen materials, but honestly that’s not the case either. The material obviously differs from more expensive models, but that’s certainly not a negative when compared to the price. The design won’t be that fancy or gaudy, but it’s not ugly either, so the understated look makes them pleasing to the eye as well.
