Trouble Losing Weight? Read here

How many times have you regained the weight lost after a diet? Well, you are not whiteflies, but according to an old statistic, nine out of ten of people who go on a diet .

On the other hand, with all the diets out there, dieticians and nutritionists willing to make people lose weight, have you ever wondered why we are still plagued by obesity?

Why almost ninety percent of the population (the percentage is overestimated, however, if we see it over a period of 5 years; beyond that period, it is not really known exactly how many people gain weight ) try a diet and then fail it ?

The reasons that explain the difficulty in losing weight are many: the first, very simple, is that when we go on a diet we often eat too little compared to what we should, with the interest of having rapid results, but with the effect of having a slowed metabolism and less and less lean mass.

It is logical that you re-fatten, unless you reduce your calories more and more, and conversely, your health.

Unlike what you have been able to hear in recent years, for which it is necessary to eat less to live more, all the experiments conducted on a human sample subjected to caloric restriction have reported a worsening of life , both in terms of duration and in terms of health, in the long term.

The experiments that have had different outcomes, for which caloric restriction = longer life have been carried out on yeasts or on some species of mice or monkeys with more success, while human samples have always been small; but even in this case a meta -analysis analyzed the different studies on calorie restriction, and determined that a calorie restriction did not exactly mean a longer life: it was indeed a dangerous generalization.

Instead, it would be better to educate people to eat the right amount to live better (and be fit): but this takes a long time.

Losing weight quickly, perhaps with a crash diet, is therefore the first big mistake of those who want to lose weight , which makes it easy to regain the lost pounds and causes difficulty in losing weight again.

According to some research, however , there  are other errors or problems that cause difficulties in losing weight .

And they are, in addition to weight loss diets: stress, sleep problems or lack of sleep, lack of sunlight, with vitamin D deficiencies, the tendency to eat absent-mindedly and to be voracious, the tendency to skip meals and special such as breakfast, the tendency to go to the gym, aerobics or sports too many times or for too many consecutive hours (and we return to the stress hypothesis), the tendency to eat light or light foods that causes a malnutrition of useful lipids and micronutrients, menopause and aging.

Based on this, if we are having trouble losing weight here are the things we need to do before doing yet another diet:

  1. exercise for half an hour a day or three / three and a half hours maximum per week.
  2. sleep adequately, taking care of sleep hygiene and keeping warm lights in the evening
  3. get out in the fresh air or enjoy the sunlight whenever possible
  4. do not skip meals
  5. chew slowly and take time to eat
  6. do not overdo the obsession with calories and activities
  7. improve lean mass by doing weights instead of aerobics
  8. avoid light foods, fortified foods (with the addition of vitamins and synthetic salts), foods with a long list of ingredients
  9. try to live as serenely as possible, avoiding filling every day with too many things.
