The non-stick pan? It risks making us fat
Some chemicals used industrially can poison the body, and cause weight gain, particularly among women. Harvard University researchers have just discovered that one of the harmful consequences of exposure to PFAS, that is to perfluoro-alkyl substances, is weight gain, but not only. Other far more serious ones are a greater risk of getting cancer, serious hormonal problems, dysfunctions in the immune system, hypercholesterolemia. On the other hand, women exposed to these substances become more easily obese . In fact, it seems that the PFAS cause a metabolic alteration, actually lowering the metabolism, or rather have “obesogenic” effects.
The other bad news, however, is that these PFAS are found everywhere, precisely because they are heavily used on an industrial level.
From clothes to mineral waters in plastic bottles to many snacks and industrially packaged products, to food films and, unbelievable, in non-stick pans.
Scientists found that people who had higher concentrations of these substances in their blood also had much lower metabolisms than their average, and therefore recommend buying fewer industrial products, drinking less bottled water, using fewer non-stick pans, and fewer foils. for foods, also paying attention to vacuum-packed and canned foods. Finally, use a tap water filter.
