The Mayo Clinic diet for permanent weight loss

“The Mayo Clinic Diet will be the last diet and the only one you will ever need.” Words of Dr. Donald Henrsud, chief director of the famous Mayo clinic, a dietary path different from all the others because it is based on the personalization of the weight loss plan.

In fact , the Mayo Clinic diet , of which only this 3-day flash version is known, is actually a slimming path that is divided into two stages: the actual weight loss phase and the maintenance phase. But what exactly is the Mayo Clinic diet?

There is no one-size-fits-all plan: the basic idea is to give anyone the tools to lose weight, personalizing their slimming plan with the help of their doctor. However, there are rules for everyone to follow.

MAYO CLINIC DIET TO LOSE DEFINITIVELY: THE RULES

  • Always have breakfast
  • Eat 4 servings of vegetables (one serving is 80 grams of leafy greens such as salad or spinach and 150 grams of vegetables such as zucchini or tomatoes) and 3 of fruit per day (one serving is about 80 grams).
  • Eat 3 servings of whole grains per day. Including bread, rusks, breakfast cereals.
  • Adjust to 4 servings of healthy fats per day.

  • Exercise at least half an hour a day or walk briskly for half an hour.
  • The 5 forbidden things.

  • You can never eat while watching TV.
  • No sugars other than fruit sugars are allowed. Ok stevia or zero calorie sweeteners.

  • In the slimming phase, you can never eat outside the home (where by outside the home we mean bars or restaurants, while you can take your home-made lunch out, for example to work).
  • Red meats, aged cheeses, processed meats are to be limited as seen in the rules.
