Tailored diet: lose weight with an algorithm

A diet for everyone does not exist, and, even if it did exist, it would not be effective in combating obesity and overweight, while a tailor-made diet does. But how to set up a tailor-made diet?

According to Dr. Eran Elinav , a biologist, and Professor  Eran Segal , a mathematician, people respond very differently to one diet or another : some lose weight, some don’t, and some will soon regain it. The reason behind these differences is in the bacteria in the gut , and in how each of us responds glycemic to meals. To give you an example, there are people whose blood sugar gets too high by eating a fistful of rice, people whose blood sugar level doesn’t rise alarmingly after lunch even after a huge plate of rice. The difference in the glycemic response is the basis of an algorithm that these two scientists developed, creating the projectPersonal Nutrition: by  purchasing a simple glucometer at a pharmacy (i.e. a device that allows you to measure blood sugar), it is possible to understand which foods raise our blood sugar more than others. The answer would not be unique for everyone precisely because of the intestinal differences. From here the two scientists would have developed an algorithm that allows us to finally discover which diet is tailored to us. In a book also released in Italy, scientists make us understand how to design a personalized diet and understand our friendly and enemy foods for our line thanks to the glucometer test, and not just to lose weight: also to live longer, they explain.

Our intestinal bacteria modulate our glycemic response , which is why a self-analysis would be important, and would allow us to understand which foods we need to be more careful about to lose weight and which foods on us do not have a fattening and risky effect on health.
