Slimming products sold with fake instagram profiles
The news comes from the news blog Gizmodo , but unfortunately I received a similar report from a reader of mine. There are numerous fake profiles on Instagram , which in theory belong to women or girls, used to sell weight loss products, particularly pills and slimming packs of shakes, supplements and meal replacements.
Only Gizmodo, through one of his journalists, has caught as many as 30 .
Thirty false “female” profiles in which women explain how they have overcome even serious traumas with men who humiliated them and then take their revenge by losing weight with the slimming products of the company of such and such. Or that they show photos where they are in top physical shape and want to reveal their secret to the world, which obviously consists of weight loss products from that or that company.
Even on Twitter the same old story: fake profiles that sell slimming products, and which are then reposted by accounts with many visitors, who are paid for each post shared.
This phenomenon joins the existing one for which many bloggers or influencers in the field of nutrition or fitness, this time real, invite the purchase of replacement bars or meals complete with a discount code.
An already unpleasant phenomenon, if you think that it is often conveyed by nutritionists or nutritionists and fitness models or coaches, who are therefore capable of influencing the market by leading those who follow them to make purchases that are not always consistent with a healthy diet and well-being.
It is one thing to advise, once, twice. Another is to push a sale with every selfie.
If this was not enough, now fake Instagram profiles (they have already been present on Facebook for years but more easily unmasked) are also used to sell slimming products.
A fake profile that you can run into and end up putting your hand to your wallet, and beware!
If you have an instagram profile, do not make it public except to those who request it.
In fact, these profiles not only steal photos from the network to create an identity, but also from other accounts.
Three women have already filed a complaint because their photos were stolen by the managers of these fake profiles and who found themselves sponsoring fat burning pills without their knowledge.
Accounts are often recognizable thanks to keywords already entered in the profile name, for example ending with chaobella, byebella, byemollyxo.
So let’s open our eyes , and while we’re at it, let’s remember that not everything we see on Instagram is real, it’s authentic, it’s as naïve as our selfies, as explained in this video .
