Metabolic syndrome: an avocado to fight it
An avocado a day keeps the doctor away : this would be especially true for those suffering from a condition known as metabolic syndrome , which is a set of health problems including overweight, high blood sugar, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, which would lead to , if they all occur in the same subject, this condition, in turn linked to a greater risk of early mortality.
People with metabolic syndrome are thought to be more prone to visceral fat accumulation:Â they are often sedentary and have a few extra pounds, and eat a diet high in both sugar and fat.
But a meta-analysis that analyzed 129 studies found that if you suffer from this condition, an avocado a day could be useful in defeating it. Avocado, with its intake of monounsaturated fats and polyphenols and its particular amino acid profile, in fact, would reduce body fat, bad cholesterol, high blood pressure and high blood sugar: in short, it would act beneficially against all the conditions that create the metabolic syndrome. They would also have a positive effect on triglycerides. But how to consume it?
An avocado a day is in fact a caloric surplus of 320 calories (160 per 100 grams, and an average avocado has a weight of about 200 grams). However, we can introduce it into our diet while reducing some foods , for example traditional baked goods, sweet and savory snacks, dried fruit and eating half a portion, therefore 100 grams.
Here are some suggestions:
for breakfast, ripe avocado spread on two slices of toast;
in the salad in pieces, perhaps reducing the oil to a teaspoon of dressing;
as guacamole sauce, onion and pepper smoothie;
in a sweet cream, smoothe
