Leave a negative review and tell her to lose weight
That’s right, I have a diet blog. But it is also true that I hate fat-shaming , or that form of bullying that is done against those who are overweight or obese, and which is a much more common practice than you think. Not only because often those who fat-shaming do not believe they are doing anything wrong, but also because what is a disease is often confused as a responsibility of the patient, who if he is fat eats too much, so telling him to go on a diet does not it’s serious.
Even when in this case, the advice to go on a diet is totally out of place.
But let’s get to the facts.Â
A girl spends a bad night in a hotel with her husband, writes a review about the hotel, pointing out all the things that didn’t go well during her stay. She and her husband were to celebrate an anniversary. But the hotel manager responds to the criticism, saying that from a budget hotel you can’t expect four stars.
So far all legitimate. Except that the woman then receives a private message from the owner of the hotel, suggesting that she go on a diet, because, implicitly, if she is fat she is unhappy, which is why she takes it out on everyone.
Here, whenever we use weight as someone’s appearance to criticize them, we are doing fat-shaming.
