In this 2020, Huawei has decided to feed the smartphone market with a rather expensive product. We are talking about the Huawei P40 Pro , which after moving away from Google services wants to raise the Huawei Mobile Services to maximum power . As you can see at the following link , the price of the product slightly exceeds a thousand euros, and that is why the company must certainly justify the figure through a considerable quality and various features. Let’s analyze the product together in the next few lines, discovering if Huawei has successfully filled the lack of Google Play Services , making its ecosystem ready for use through its new top of the range.
First impact with the Huawei P40 ProÂ
Already in the unboxing phase, it is easy to realize how you are faced with a product that really oozes quality from every pore. The body is in fact extremely solid and resistant , but at the same time truly elegant in shape and workmanship. It takes little to notice that the weight of the product is not indifferent , however, also due to the ceramic that makes up the back, which provides a truly appreciable tactile feedback. The phone is patented to withstand drops and bumps, thanks to a surprising consistency in the assembly. At the same time, the IP68 certificationassures us that the Huawei P40 Pro can go up to 1.5 meters underwater without suffering damage, at least for the first 30 minutes in these conditions.
The real flaw of the Huawei P40 Pro can be found in the mono audio, which partially destroys an almost perfect system.
Accompanying us in the package we find a USB to USB-C cable, USB-C headphones, and a really performing 40W power supply, although the Huawei P40 Pro also allows the approach of wireless charging . The screen of the product is curved on all four sides , and even this feels really well done to the touch, giving the user the feeling of the premium product necessary for top-of-the-range smartphones. At the top left there is a notch placed on the screen, formed by two chambers somewhat distant from each other , which guarantee an extreme final quality thanks to this feature. The panel features a resolution of 1200 × 2640 , and is configured as a 6.85-inch OLED. Nothing to say for the excellent visual performance, accompanied by more than promoted lighting, with the possibility of varying the refresh rate from 60hz to 90hz . In this case the battery consumption increases slightly, but guarantees performance more similar to 120hz screens , with the icing on the cake formed by full compatibility with HDR + . Interesting is the fingerprint placed in the center of the screen , obviously under the panel, which together with the 2D facial recognition allows fast and secure unlocks. The audio is the weakest part of the system , allowing playback only in monoand therefore offering performance that is not in line with the top of the range of the competition.
Inside the premium system
As for the hardware configuration, we can be more than satisfied, starting from the Kirin 990 processor which evolves the potential of the previous models, resulting in more than excellent for each action. The total RAM is 8GB , while the system memory stands at 256GB . The connections are well allowed thanks to the technologies of 5G , Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-fi 6 . The 4200 mAh battery manages to guarantee all the functions very well, allowing users to get to the end of the day without too many problems, although it is not particularly large in relation to the various requests of the system.
The cameras are the most successful part of the system, which thanks to Huawei Mobile Services successfully fills the absence of the partnership with Google.
The flagship of the product, however, concerns the camera sector , which besides an amazing quality have various interesting features. Suffice it to say that the article itself is aimed precisely at the user who prefers to focus everything on photos and videos, who will be more than satisfied. There is talk of a textbook image stabilization and a really aggressive and impactful artificial intelligence in the photos , which can obviously be easily deactivated for more “natural” results. The resolution is also excellent by taking the zoom to 10x, considering that each of the cameras offers an excellent 4K at 60 fps . It is also possible to create timelapse and slow motions at the same resolution, with full support up to 7680 fps . We then come to the possible big flaw of the phone, concerning its EMUI 10.1 system  based on Android. Although this offers a now established and surprising optimization, it is still a Huawei -branded ecosystem , which is therefore no longer compatible with Google Mobile Services . However, Huawei Mobile Services are now at the forefront , and smoothly mitigate the inevitable nostalgia perceived by consumers, receiving interesting updates day after day .. We can confirm that the services are now almost equivalent, and that this new road is practically cleared and easy to follow. Despite this, it is clear that many applications are exclusive to Google services and that, consequently, some users will not be able to easily make these compromises, abandoning the various possibilities offered by Google.
