Hiro Mashima , author of “ Fairy Tail ” and “ Rave – The Groove Adventure ” and one of the most loved and established mangaka, is ready to have fun with his new work: Edens Zero , the highly anticipated spin-off of Fairy Tail. This new manga has been made to wait for more than a year by fans and now it will have the task – by no means simple – of not disappointing the expectations that have been created around this new adventure. The first volume of Edens Zero is available in all newsstands and comics shops in Italy in two versions, the classic in regular edition and limited edition.

Modern globetrotter

Rebecca  is a young adventurer and a  Q-Cuber (a sort of modern youtuber who, however, uses very advanced technologies). Together with her faithful cat Happy her, the girl travels around the world making as many videos as possible to upload to her channel in order to get views and likes. After a lot of wandering, the two arrive in the kingdom of Granbell, a huge theme park where the only inhabitants are robots. The young woman discovers that she is the first visitor to the park who in that period experienced a hundred years of inactivity. During their tour inside the park Rebecca and Happy are attacked by one of the attractions of the park and they manage to save themselves only thanks to the intervention of Shiki , the only human being to live in the kingdom ofGranbell . The boy, apparently, never had contact with another human being, in fact his ways are quite bizarre since he does not just observe the girl with insistence, but also ends up groping her (obviously without any malice ). The girl initially fails to understand the strange ways of the young man who behaves like a real savage, but since Shiki had previously saved her life she decides to become friends with her and take him away from Granbell. Over time, the girl realizes that Shiki is not only very agile and strong, but is also in possession of an Ether Gear: a device that allows the owner to control gravity as he prefers. Once on the planet – known as the Blue Garden where the ” Guild of Adventurers ” is based – Rebecca decides to register her new friend as Shiki Granbell . Once the latest paperwork has been sorted out, the two young people decide to set out in search of Mother , a mysterious entity that wanders in the most remote parts of space and of which no one would seem to know anything.

In this new and carefree adventure, Hiro Mashima focuses on the elements that made his flagship work, “Fairy Tail”, great . Exciting fights, daring adventures and moments of pure fun blend perfectly with each other, giving the reader a quality shonen to be enjoyed. The most avid fans of the mangaka will surely have noticed the numerous references to his previous work and how the very first volume of ” Dragon ball ” by Akira Toriyamahas influenced, even indirectly, the writing of this new work. The meeting between the “wild” Shiki and the young Rebecca reminded me (and not a little) of the first meeting between little Goku and Bulma before leaving for their journey in search of the seven dragon spheres. Unusual the choice by the author to tell an adventure that takes place in space, a choice that could however reserve numerous twists in the future, such as clashes between spaceships and fights between fearsome alien races. Edens Zero is an interesting but at the same time light reading that gives the reader moments of pure fun, twists and turns worthy of note. A highly recommended manga that you have to trust.
